The Corporate Security Services Group was formed to centralize divisional
mainframe security jobs. Responsibilities included planning, coordinating, and
implementing this centralization effort in conjunction with divisional representatives.
This centralization process included
- forming a security group by transferring employees from affected divisions and hiring
from outside the Company
- planning the transition, via phone and onsite visits, with each divisions security
person and management
- meeting with divisional clients to obtain documentation and training on specific
applications
- developing an action plan for testing and cutover of divisional functions into the
corporate group
- holding teleconferences to facilitate this centralization effort and agree on items to
transition to various corporate groups
- establishing a common security request form for all divisions with division specific
modifications allowed
- training the security staff to carry out divisional instructions
- creating a Lotus Notes Database with documentation necessary to complete any security
request
- creating a Lotus Notes Database to track "Data Owners"
- creating a Lotus Notes Database to track security calls and requests
- establishing performance goals and using the tracking database to report on these
performance standards
- developing standardized processes after transition
Additional responsibilities include:
- being the focal point for any Data Center Intranet activities as well as developing a
home page and the link structure to be followed below that page
- coordinating and installating a second BMS Internet connection located in Evansville
this required coordination with the PRI networking people
- interfacing with vendor to develop procedures to update configuration when needed
- updating the Domain Name Server for the Data Center subnet (requires UNIX knowledge and
expertise)
Ongoing responsibilities include
- managing Corporate Security Services Group Staff
- planning, implementing, and coordinating many large and small projects related to
security infrastructure on five MVS/ACF2 systems, one VM/ACF2 controlled system, one
MVS/RACF system, five AS/400 systems, one Novell server, and some UNIX systems
- interfacing with auditors -- including responding to audit issues and upfront
consultation on security-related issues
- developing and implementing a project to define all clients by the "Job
Function" they perform to facilitate faster response to requests
- initiating a project for single sign-on -- proposed a plan which will save the Company
approximately five million dollars in client time spent logging on the various systems in
use today

Responsibilities included ensuring the successful operation of the VM/CMS
(Officevision,OASYS) system. Responsible for a staff who achieved 99.95% uptime and
maintained the system at current software levels. These goals included all of the 40-50
products running under VM. This position also interfaced with all other divisional support
staff and within the datacenter. Cross functional knowledge of MVS and telecommunications
was a must to ensure a complete operating environment existed. While in this position
successfully planned, coordinated, and implemented the merging of the SQUIBB VM system
with the Midwest VM system. Implementation of this merger allowed the saving of
significant monies in software, hardware and people costs. |

Performed the day-to-day support of the VM/CMS operating system. Products
supported ranged from the operating system itself to all of the products running under VM.
These products included databases, such as SQL/DS, Focus and SAS: statistical software:
compilers, systems support software (ACF2, TMS and system backup software.) Responsible
for planing, implementing and coordinating changes with the client community. Published
documentation on system changes and improvements. While in this position successfully
planned, coordinated, and implemented merger of the Eastern VM system with the Midwest VM
system. Implementation of this merger allowed saving significant monies. |
